Dr. Trevor Ireland founded the Ireland Clinic of Chiropractic, LLC., in 1971 and has continuously practiced in Anchorage ever since. Dr. Trevor Ireland has risen to the level of Chairman of the Palmer College of Chiropractic Board of Trustees and has proudly served with Ms. Vickie Palmer, whose great grandfather discovered the Chiropractic profession. Dr. Ireland is one of the very few professionals to be selected as a Certificate Holder of the Palmer Chiropractic Foundation. He has served his profession at the State, National, and International level as a member of the Board of Directors, International Chiropractors Association and as a Delegate, American Chiropractic Association. Dr. Ireland is also a Past Chairman of the Alaska Board of Chiropractic Examiners and is the primary author of the Alaska Chiropractic Law which contains the first legally defined definition of "Chiropractic Adjustment" in our nation.
Dr. Ireland is the Co-Founder of the Alaska Chiropractic Society, a Past President and a current member. He is also a member of the American Chiropractic Association. Dr. Ireland is also a contributing author of a number of published research papers concerning the spinal column, nervous system, and posture.
One of Dr. Ireland's favorite personal accomplishments was reaching the summit of Mt. McKinley on June 30, 1979. In respect of his profession, he placed a plastic model of the spine on the top of the continent. On the previous day Dr. Ireland performed the "highest" Chiropractic Adjustment ever made (at 18,200 feet) on a climber who had "thrown his lower back out!" Another accomplishment was receiving the most valuable rugby player award in 1967. He was named an American All-Star while playing rugby for Palmer College of Chiropractic. In 1968 and 1969, the Palmer team was nationally ranked No. 1!
When speaking with Dr. Ireland, people notice his British accent. He was born in East London in the Republic of South Africa. His grandfather, Henry Donald Hammond of Mafeking, South Africa, was one of the first six Boy Scouts in the world, and he helped Lord Baden-Powell conceive the Boy Scout movement. Because of this significant family contribution, Dr. Ireland encouraged (with success) the Boy Scouts of America to permit Chiropractors to perform physical examinations on Boy Scouts.
On a personal note, Dr. Ireland is married to Gloria and is very proud of his five beautiful daughters and nine grandchildren. When asked why he became a Chiropractor, Dr. Ireland replies, "Years ago I sustained a severe spinal injury in an automobile accident. Medical care helped me, but my injuries left me with a spinal impairment and headaches. With some trepidation, I consulted with a Chiropractor, Dr. Russ Hayward, at a friend's urging. This consultation changed my life! My spinal problem and headaches were then corrected... and the Chiropractic care made biomechanical and biological sense to me. So I decided to become a Chiropractor to help others."
Dr. Trevor Ireland is dedicated, personally and professionally, to helping patients realize their optimal health and well-being through quality Chiropractic care. He and his team of Doctors and Support Staff are continually striving to provide the most friendly, caring, nurturing and professional healthcare possible to meet the individual needs of each patient.
